Official Press Release:

THE EMBERS TO ENTERTAIN AMERICAN TROOPS
Group to tour Korea during 2007 Holiday season

The Embers have accepted an invitation to perform their holiday-themed show Christmas with the Embers - With Love at Christmas for United States troops and their families in South Korea from December 15th through the 21st.  Four back-to-back shows will take place at Yongsan Garrison, Camp Walker, Camp Humphreys and Camp Casey.

The group marks this invitation as a great opportunity to present and share their music.  As group member Wayne Free notes,  "We are more than honored for such an opportunity… indeed a milestone in any career.  This also serves as a chance to bring a little bit of home to our heroes for the holidays.” Jerry F. Sharell President/CEO of The Society of Singers had this to say,  “The Society of Singers (SOS) would like to wish the Embers a safe trip to Korea and extend their heartfelt thanks to them for making the SOS known to the thousands of people who have attended their performances in 2006-2007. Their affiliation with SOS is greatly appreciated”.

The Embers were approached by the Recreation Programs Branch of the IMCOM (Installation Management Command) recently for this opportunity, one that coincides with their popular holiday-themed performance schedule that is currently underway.

Brigadier General Aycock is from North Carolina and an Embers fan.  He requested that the band appear in Korea to perform for the troops.

The Embers enjoy a great deal of exposure on radio, satellite and internet stations throughout the world and are currently receiving consistent airplay of songs from their “Super Collaboration” CD and of their current single “The Last Time I’m Saying Goodbye” both in the U.S. and beyond.  A recent review from the UK-based Soulchoonz.com proclaimed, “Here they are- the legendary Embers, to remind us that in fact there is still REAL soul being made.”

The Embers partnered with Bluewater Recordings, Inc. of New York for the release of their latest album, (THE SHOW MUST GO ON) as well as their previous release, (BEACH MUSIC, SUPER COLLABORATION) which featured guest artists such as ten- time-Grammy- winner George Benson, O.C. Smith, Cuba Gooding, Darryl Tookes, Ronnie Limar and LaTanya Hall.  With lush orchestration, their soulful sound has a strong message of love and life combined with great vocal harmonies and contagious melodies.  Their performances in Korea will include wonderful original compositions with holiday themes as well as some traditional favorites that can be found on their current holiday release entitled, WITH LOVE AT CHRISTMAS. The title track is a new song written for them by their producer Charles Wallert.

THE EMBERS: THE SHOW MUST GO ON: BLUEWATER RECORDINGS: JULY 2007

****a review by Micheal Roberts. Click here to visit his home page to learn more about Mr. Roberts, read other reviews and more!****

•• It has been several years since The Embers and Bluewater Recordings had a release. The music world has been hearing rumors for sometime of the forthcoming project. Well, the long wait is over. I have been privy to be one of a few to receive an advance copy of this truly phenomenal project. My first listen nearly resulted in me picking up the phone and calling the Producer “Charles Wallert” to ask him what soul group had he hired to replace the group of shiny white faces known as “The Embers”. That’s right the Embers have truly embraced the soul sound of Motown and “Philly” through their use of dueling lead singers (Wayne Free & Jerry Tellier) paired with the use of full background vocals, orchestration utilizing real strings, horns, creative percussive instrumentation and what I will call intuitive musicality. This to me means bringing a musical feature to its natural resolution harmonically and performance wise. Jerry and Wayne as lead vocalists each provide us with a believable emotional interpretation individually or when engaged in musical exchanges and interchanges. The out front use of dual leads or supporting leads out front and stage center with grand modulations, harmonic balance and offset all reflect the best of what keeps drawing generations back to the Motown & Philly Sound. This project contains twelve tracks ranging from covers of little heard works by the late O.C. Smith, George Benson and Yolanda Adams to original product created specifically for this album.

As is my custom I generally note my favorites but unfortunately of the 12 tracks I am having a bit of difficulty selecting two or three. However, I will single out a few but remember the others that are not selected for comment are of no less quality. Let me begin with track one “The Last Time I’m Sayin’ Goodbye”. A grand piece that immediately grabs your attention and says “Listen”: containing intricate blends of background vocal harmonies and instrumentation overlaid with a solid strong lead. Musically, its use of modulations along with instrument and vocal presence placement makes this one to remember. Moving on to track two “You Mean The World To Me Sweetheart” you discover a cover of a song written by Steals and previously performed by the late O.C. Smith. It utilizes full orchestration, double leads and easy tempo, which simply bring it to another level as related to its original version. Track five “Never Give Up” originally performed by Yolanda Adams and written by Adams, Harris, Lewis and Wright for Yolanda’s “The Best of Me” album is features vocals by Wayne, a very sophisticated use of percussive instruments along with a very catchy lyric. Track seven “The Show Must Go On” is without a doubt a song not only for the musicians performing it but also for anyone who has ever had to push on through despite all odds. Deceptively simple in its construction, Wayne’s heart felt interpretation paired with supporting strings and perfectly positioned harmonic backgrounds causes one to attend to this one.

My final comment on individual tracks focuses on track 8. A duet performed by Jerry Tellier and LaTanya Hall. Their vocal blends have the musical consistency of homemade vanilla ice cream with hot fudge swilled on, in and around it. In short it is well balanced in all facets.

On The “Ole Give It To Mikey, He’ll Play It Rating Scale” this project is without a doubt a very strong A+. It contains multiple dance tracks for all forms of swing, inclusive of Carolina, East and West Coast Swing, Cha Cha, Fox Trot and of coarse the snuggle up and let’s get personal Belly Rubber. Additionally, the album offers something for the various recognized categories ranging from Soul, R n B, and Urban, to Adult Contemporary which no recent product produced by a Carolina based group has delivered. That is National Marketability and Mass Appeal. Now this may not sit well with the so-called Beach Music purists but if you really look back to the day when the kids came to the beach to discover music that mom and dad would not approve of…. Well you would find a sound that is clearly reflected here in todays more evolved and sophisticated form. Great Job Embers and Bluewater Recordings for giving us a product that will make waves from coast to coast.

The Embers are Heart and Soul, Rhythm and Blues. Since the groups inception in 1958, the Embers have been touring, turning out albums and hit songs. In 2007, the trend will continue. As they say - "The Show Must Go On"

The Embers are truly a storied tradition. Over the years, personnel has changed but the drive and motivation for top quality music and showmanship is stronger than ever. In 2004, the Embers released their first album from the Independent Label Bluewater Recordings, Inc. The Album entitled "The Embers Beach Music Super Collaboration" included guest artists George Benson, Cuba Gooding, LaTanya Hall, Darryl Tookes, Ronnie Limar, Coral and even the late great Mr. O.C. Smith. The first release from The Beach Music Collaboration Album was 'Beach Music'. Long standing magazine publication soulwalking named 'Beach Music' #8 in their top 20 Soul tracks of the year for 2005. Another track from the album - 'All I Ever Wanted Was You' - came in at #16! These songs are ranked by radio play and listener popularity. The album was also reviewed by soulwalking's 'Listen out for 2005...' section. This album is available at cdbaby.com or The Embers online store!

The Embers current project is not a collaboration effort but a potential addiction! As with their first Bluewater release, The Embers continue their strong message of love and harmony combined with great songs and contagious melodies. The Embers continue to employ fully orchestrated arrangements from the incomparable Joseph Joubert who's credits most recently include The Color Purple on Broadway. Songwriters include the Multi-Grammy Nominated Jimmy George ('I'll Always Love You' and 'Just To See Her') and the Legendary Steals Brothers (Could It Be I'm Falling In Love). The Embers engineer is Mr. Gary Chester who's credits are simply too numerous to even begin to name. He is the best in the business.

Charles Wallert is the producer for The Embers. Known as "The Singer's Producer", his expertise and love for music only accentuates the artistry and significance behind every Embers recording. He was most recently unanimously elected President of the East Coast Chapter of The Society of Singers.

The Embers new Album - "The Show Must Go On" - is set for release this year. Join the Embers mailing list to stay up to date with the latest news, announcements and tour dates. The Embers record exclusively for Bluewater Recordings, Inc. of New York City.

The Society of Singers is a non-profit tax-exempt charitable organization founded twenty two years ago to support the health and welfare of professional singers in need of assistance due to personal, family or medical crisis. One of the Societies most compelling characteristics is that you don't have to be a singer to join! Please visit the SOS web home to learn how you can be part of such an exemplary purpose.
